The potato industry in PEI is the provinces largest agricultural industry with approximataely 89,000 acres in production.  Potatoes are harvested in the fall and are marketed during the following 9 to 12 months.  It is necessary to store the potato crop in climate controlled environment to maintain the quality of the product until it reaches the consumer.

Since its beginning, Linkletter Engineering has been providing the potato industry with innovative potato storage designs.  In recent years the type of structure has changed from the traditional lumber frame structure with fiber insulation to the insulated concrete form (ICF) type construction.

Designs are provided for several different types of bulk storage structures as well as box storages.  Ventilation systems for bulk storages include culvert type laterals on top of the floor, lateral ducts cast into the floor, a double floor ventilation system and forced air circulation systems for pallet box storages.  Refrigeration systems for the storages are usually designed by the equipment suppliers.
